today’s prompt is to write a poem that can fit on a postcard! thank you to Sarah Kortemeier from the University of Arizona Poetry Center for the inspo :)

given the inherent length constraint of a postcard, the general idea is to keep only the most vivid images in the poem and to choose your words/phrasings judiciously! Lauren Ireland’s 2014 collection Dear Lil Wayne is made up of postcards she sent the rapper during his incarceration—here’s the first poem of the collection:

here are some ideas of people to write to: a deity, an elementary school teacher, the cashier at your local gas station, a relative’s favorite musician, the person living in your old house
